Gingival Recession and Gingival Graft
A gum graft is a surgical process to treat gum recession caused by gum disease or in case of tooth decay or fracture below the gumline or in some crowning cases. Gingival graft treatment includes two stages as follows:

2. In case of tooth decay or fracture below the gumline, after the gingival graft, patients will meet with specialists for continued treatment.

If you need a crown and you have receding gum, the gingival graft must be completed for at least one month prior to crown process.

Aesthetic Periodontal Surgery

The aesthetic periodontal surgery helps improve the confidence of those who have a ‘gummy’ smile since their teeth appear short or covered with too much gum tissue. This procedure reshape excess gum and bone tissue to the correct amount of tooth to expose a natural symmetrical smile.

Surgical Procedure

Once the you feel numb, the periodontist performs incision around the gum and reshapes the bone structure to the desired shape. The surgical site is then stitched up and covered with cold pack. The entire surgical process takes about one hour.

The patient receives a pain-relief and anti-biotic medication and mouth wash for one week.
The patient should finish the medication and use mouth wash after brushing.

The periodontist will remove the stitches during the follow-up visit in a week.

It is important that patient follow after surgery instructions carefully to ensure of satisfactory aesthetic result.
