After root canal treatment, a crown may be needed in several cases as the tooth tends to be fragile. Post & core build up is a foundation for a crown. There are two types of post: pre-fabricated post and cast post (metal). At the Dentist Clinic, we can provide you with quality-control cast and crown from our own laboratory, widely accepted by leading dental clinics and hospitals in Thailand.
Prefabricated post & core
Prefabricated post and core are normally made of fiber with similar look and feel of natural teeth. They can be easily and rapidly cemented to the root with minimum chance of root fracture.
Cast post and core (metal)
Cast post and core (metal), though cost-effective and durable, requires several sessions with the dentist. Firstly, impression is made of the post space; secondly, the post is placed into the tooth.
After the post and core are placed, tooth is prepared and the impression is made for the crown fabrication. These processes can be done immediately after the post and core being cemented.
After the crown fitting, follow-up session is needed to examine whether it sits comfortably or needs trimming.
